Contribute: Giving Options

There are two ways you can monetarily support the AHEIO.

Traditional Contributions

The first is a traditional contribution that is tax deductible. We are a 501 (C) (3) charity. As such your contributions are tax deductible. Further, these contributions can be used by the AHEIO to support a wide range of educational programs. Unlike the tax credit program we are not limited to using these funds for specific programs approved by the State. In the past we have used funds from these contributions to support the AHHS Renaissance Student Incentive Program and The Blue Review, the school newspaper at Abington Heights High School.

EIO Tax Credits

The AHEIO is not only a 501 (C) (3) charity, but have been designated by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as an approved Educational Improvement Organization (EIO). This gives business contributors an opportunity to receive additional tax benefits. Qualified corporate donations can generate Pennsylvania tax credits worth up to 90% of their value.

Pennsylvania corporations that donate to the program receive a 75% tax credit for a one year commitment and 90% for a two year pledge. These credits can be used to offset a variety of state taxes including corporate income and capital stock franchise taxes. The state has set aside $3,200,000 yearly in tax credit monies to be used for this program. Once this amount is committed to corporate requests it is closed for the year. In order to take advantage of this wonderful program, a corporation should apply to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania shortly after the start of the Fiscal year (August 1). If approved they can then make a contribution to programs that ware approved by the Department of Economic and Community Development.

Contributions that receive this favorable status must be used by the AHEIO to support one of five specified programs. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has designated Odyssey of the Mind, F.I.R.S.T. Robotics, The Arts Alliance, The Abington Heights Communications Program, and the Tropical Rain Ecology Program as Educational Improvement Programs. As such, they can receive business donations that qualify for this tax credit treatment.
